When thinking about the top charter-worthy destinations for 2020 there are many amazing cruising grounds around the world to choose from, but we think we found our 5 favorites… St. Martin and the British Virgin Islands are experiencing a renaissance following the storms two years ago. Greece and Croatia, the most popular boating destinations in the Mediterranean, are experiencing increasing interest from the American market. And Tahiti remains the crown jewel of yacht charter destinations.

Explore some of our top picks for charter and cruising destinations in 2020

The British Virgin Islands

The BVI remain the top sailing destination in the Caribbean. With 60 islands to choose from they offer something for everyone. Laid-back Anegada beckons its visitors with fresh-caught lobster and endless white-sand beaches. White Bay on Jost Van Dyke is lined with world-famous beach bars like the Soggy Dollar Bar, Hendo’s Hideout and Seedy’s One Love. On Virgin Gorda, the natural boulder formation at The Baths is one of the most sought-after photo opportunities in the world. Easy line of sight sailing and steady trade winds make the BVI a great cruising ground for beginners and the huge number of little coves, snorkeling spots, and great restaurants to explore keep loyal visitors coming back time and time again.

St. Martin

A St. Martin yacht charter includes many options for going ashore to enjoy shopping, dining out, dancing in nightclubs, trying Lady Luck in a casino, and sightseeing at historic sites such as the many forts scattered throughout the Leeward Islands. The neighboring islands of St. Barts and Anguilla are close enough to include in a one-week-charter itinerary and will offer a great variety of upscale restaurants, secluded beaches, and opportunities for snorkeling and hiking at the same time.

Croatia

Leaving from marina Agana, a Croatia charter vacation offers you the best of the Dalmatian Coast, where wildlife abounds, the snorkeling is excellent, and history is ever present. Plan to include ample time to go ashore to explore ancient towns, savor the local cuisine, or simply stroll around to see the sights. A typical 7-day Agana itinerary centers on cruising to the islands of Solta, Hvar, Vis, and Brac, and to the Kornati Islands National Park north of the port of Split. A diverse charter route where you are sure to have a memorable experience.

Tahiti

The Society group of the islands of Bora-Bora, Raiatea, Tahaa, and Huahine, are the jewels of the exotic cruising grounds on a French Polynesia sailing vacation. The encircling barrier reefs provide a habitat for sea turtles, sharks, dolphins, porpoises, colorful hard and soft coral, and more than 500 species of fish, making the Tahitian Leewards one of the world’s top snorkeling and scuba diving venues. The Moorings 5800 that is now available for Crewed charters in Tahiti makes this enchanting cruising ground even more accessible for sailors and non-sailors alike. Exotic landscapes, watersports, island tours, archaeological sites, and fine dining are just some of the delights of a Tahiti yacht charter.
