The inaugural Thailand Yacht Show is set to launch The Superyacht industry throughout S.E Asia into a new dimension in February 2016, with a host of industry news capturing headlines around the world recently, ‘Phuket’ is becoming somewhat of a buzz word for any discussion arising about yachting in the Asia Pacific.
On the 11th – 14th February 2016, Phuket’s Ao Po Grand Marina shall be transformed into an international stage to showcase the finest superyachts within the region. The organisers are well versed in drawing together the logistics and ‘the right clientele’ to ensure success at the event after a proven track record organising the annual Singapore Yacht Show every April at the One 15 Marina on Sentosa Island, Singapore.
In 2015 Andy Treadwell and his team from SYE Pty Ltd brought together over 11,600 visitors into Sentosa Cove, Singapore, 36 vessels over 20m and more than 150 brands on display in 4,391 square metres of exhibition space. Phuket has more than 100 berths on offer for vessels over 30 metres and with the ever-increasing wealth in the region and European Yacht Owners seeking fresh destinations – Phuket has become somewhat of a hub for all visiting yachts.
Ao Po Grand Marina on the East coast of Phuket has recently completed a major infrastructure project to offer guests access to Luxury accommodation, Swimming Pools, restaurants and marine services including yacht chandlery, brokerage and management services.
In other recent news the Thailand Charter Yacht License was recently announced enabling foreign flagged superyachts over 30m to apply for a special permit to operate commercially within the Kingdom. The Thailand Yacht Show coincides with the summer yachting season and shall provide the opportunity for yachting enthusiasts to view first hand potential charter options in the region.
Phuket has long been a popular destination for yachts cruising the region due to world class facilities and services available, the Phuket Yacht Show is an opportunity to firmly stamp the area onto the global itineraries of yachts and demonstrate to a global audience the broad scope of services available to visiting yachts and the breathtaking landscape for cruising and exploring the local area.
The team from AYC Superyacht Recruitment shall be on hand throughout the show to meet with crew, captains and owners to discuss the trends of the industry and assist with any recruitment projects. AYC has been recognised as one of the leading crew agencies within the Asia-Pacific region and has now established a local office (see story here) in partnership with Sealync (Asia) Co., Ltd to service the needs of the growing industry.
